About Gonidakis

The winery is surrounded by a vineyard planted on uneven stone platforms (traditional dry-stone walls of the Cyclades) or “stairs” as they are called on the island. It consists of five Cycladic wine-making grape varieties in a lineyar vineyard of 150 acres. The area of our winery has contemporary tecnological wine making equipment of quality wine with modern wine making methods, a reception area and tasting rooms form wine sampling. There is also a retail store at the port, where you can purchase your favourite labels.
It is a boutique winery focused on producing high – quality Greek wines . Its purpose and goal is to promote the Greek known or unknown wine making grape varieties – but primarily to promote the indigenous variety of Kythnos, called “Psarosyriko” or “ Psarotheriko” and to establish it as a protected designation of origin (POP), “Psarosyriko of Kythnos”.
VINEYARDS
The Gonidakis family has a privately owned vineyard of 150 acres. Our vineyard is divided into two plots (hills). One plot is in Loutra Dryopida and has 50 acres of vineyard, where our winery is also located. It includes 7 farm-houses, the so-called “cells” or “Kalivares”, which are the stone buildings or the old houses of the farmers of Kythnos. The second plot is in the location of Petrenas Dryopida and includes 100 acres of vineyard and 7 more old stone-built farmhouses. The land, due to the fact that it is of low fertility, enables the viticulturist to create good quality grapes through a viticulture process and yield of the vineyards. The chemical composition of both vineyards is a mixture of non-clay, sandy and moist, so the special combination of the microclimate of the area where the vineyards are located and in relation to the contribution of human resources, can give a unique and high quality wine.
